About the instructor
In 2018, I began focusing on conversion optimization in my work as an all‑round digital marketer, and it ultimately became my specialization.
Thinking like an optimizer changed how I look at websites and how I make decisions. Once you know what to look for critically and consciously, you start gaining much more insights.
This year I found out how much I enjoy sharing this way of thinking and helping small businesses, which is why I created this course.

Discover what each module brings you.
1. Website goals
We start at the beginning of the optimization process. You’ll explore what your website should achieve and how different goals can exist at the same time. You’ll also look at why it helps to connect your goals to what people look for and expect when they visit your website.
2. Preparation
In this part you’ll learn how to measure your goals. You’ll look at how to track what visitors do, how to record where you start, and how to build a simple habit of regularly checking your results.
3. Unique value proposition
The promise your website makes helps visitors decide if they want to continue. They need to know if your website fits their needs, so how you express that promise is crucial. In this part, you’ll work out what you do and what sets you apart from the competition. And you’ll learn how to turn that into a clear message. One that a new visitor understands within the first few seconds of arriving on your website.
4. Awareness levels
Visitors aren’t all the same, and they arrive with different levels of understanding of what they need and what they’re looking for. These levels determine what information someone needs at that moment, and if your website currently provides it. In this part you’ll explore these levels and learn how to identify what’s most common for your visitors.
5. Website funnel
In this part you’ll map the path a visitor travels from first arrival to final conversion. You’ll learn which pages belong to which stage, and what each page type is designed to do. By the end of this part, you’ll have a clear understanding of your current website funnel, how it relates to your website goals, and the role it plays in your future optimizations.
6. Heuristics
To reduce the amount of visitors that leaves your website without taking action you must understand what works on a page and what doesn’t. To get there you need a fresh perspective. It helps you analyze the page without being influenced by your own habits or assumptions. In this part you’ll learn a structured way to do that, using proven principles that apply to any website.
7. Page structure
A well-structured page doesn’t just present information. It guides a visitor from arrival to action. In this part, you’ll learn a model that helps you shape that structure on your most important pages.
8. Copywriting
A conversation is interactive. You listen and react to someone, and adjust the moment something changes. Your website can’t do any of that. It has one chance to connect with every visitor who lands on it. In this part, you’ll learn how to write copy that feels like it was written specifically for the person reading it.
9. Style guide
Before a visitor reads a single word, your website has already made an impression, a visual one. That impression is immediate and emotional, but the choices behind it are deliberate. When those choices fit together, your website feels coherent. In this part, you’ll learn to make those choices, so that first impression works in your favor.
10. Roadmap & evaluation
This is where everything comes together. You’ve explored your website goals, your visitors, your funnel, and your pages. Now you turn all of that into a plan you can actually work from. In this final part you’ll build your own roadmap, learn how to prioritize your ideas, and learn more about how to interpret the results of your improvements.

Can I do this course if I don't have a website yet?
Yes, you can definitely do this course. Most principles are just as valuable when creating a new website. The only difference is that you don’t have historic data yet. You simply choose a starting point for your decisions now, and optimize based on real data later.
Is A/B testing also a course topic?
No. A/B testing is a great way to prove assumptions and measure the outcome of optimization ideas. But to get statistically significant results, a website needs a large amount of traffic. A/B testing tools are also expensive. For these reasons, it’s not realistic for small online businesses.
